Black Mountain Beautification Committee

Gardening in the Valley

We are extremely proud to have a monthly column in The Black Mountain News.  The column is titled Gardening in the Valley and the author is a member of the committee.

Our initial column writer was Debbie Green.  Her informative article will make you get into the garden and start pulling those "wily weeds".

Thank you Libba Fairleigh for taking the lead and writing our August column on Plotting for Planning.  After reading her column, you have a watchful eye to see which plants will be up for division this fall.

The September column was written by Joyce Ackerman detailing a how to make a scarecrow.  But not any scarecrow ~ it's the Town Square Fall couple Rocky & Rockette.  Please visit Town Square as they will appear around Sept. 30 and have your picture taken with them.

Our fall column gives helpful tips on planting spring bulbs and was written by our co-chair, Lyndall Noyes-Brownell.  With a little humor mixed in with planting advice this is an easy read and will have you outside putting bulbs in the ground.

Also want to thank Rhonda Reedy for her behind the scenes management of the column and working with the paper.  For being a relatively new member, you have already done so much for our committee.

Committee members interested in writing an article, please contact Rhonda.  If you are wondering what to write about, select  a month and we can offer you some suggestions.

As always, thank you everyone for all that you do to make our Town beautiful.
